(This chapter firstly recalls the development history of optical fiber communication, and then explains the characteristics of optical fiber communication, and mainly discusses the structure, classification, light wave transmission mechanism of optical fiber and the working principle of each component of the optical fiber communication system. Finally, some new optical fiber communication technologies are briefly introduced.)
