(WEP (WiredEquivalentPrivacy, Wired Equivalent Privacy). From the name alone, WEP seems to be a secure encryption protocol for wired networks, but it is not. The WEP standard was created in the early stage of the emergence of wireless networks, and it is a necessary security layer for wireless local area networks (WLANs).
